then had an online chat with a teacher who's one of the few people i got to know when i first learned to use instant messenger 5 years ago and still ocassionally say hi to
she studied piano and had a master's in music. she said all chinese and western popular music from the 60s on till now were commercialized, songs from the 40s and 50s were too old and outdated, they're all no good, of no value, she'd listened to but didn't like them, and only classical music was good music
the only thing she said i found acceptable was she didn't like them. the rest were crap. had a slightly heated discussion with her. but we sort of kept our cool, me more so than her
