In 1810 , London resident Peter Durand invented metal cans

that would hold & preserve food for long periods of time .

The only problem was that people had to use a hammer & chisel to open them .

Amazingly , it took another 50 years before the can opener

was invented by Ezra warner .

One of the food inventions which is an emphasis on convenience to all of us .

Don t need to worry about the safety of the food or drink you consume .
